Search engine marketing for audio
book portal
I have run a successful book shop for
many years in the town where I live. Unfortunately I have noticed over the
passed seven years, that walk in trade has dropped off and that I have more
custom from the internet. It is for this reason that I decided six months
ago to close the doors on my bookshop and set up a better website for my
books on the web and work from home. I felt that it made more business sense
to cut all the overheads of having a shop in the town centre. This way I
could be flexible, taking orders over the internet and via the phone, then
shipping them out next day. As the post office was only a stones throw from
my house it was perfect, for if I got any last minute orders I could simply
walk across the road and post them out.
It made sense to work from
home in other ways too, my children are still of school age, and previously
I had relied on child minders to pick them up after school, and even take
them to school on some mornings. So from this point of view, it would cut
down on money spent on child care, plus I would get much more time with my
children.
As I already had a website up and running, I simply carried on taking orders
from the website without making any alterations to it. After a couple of
months trading from home, I decided it was time to put money into making my
presence better felt on the internet search engine. At present I was still
only ranking at number 30, I wanted and needed to be up at number 10 or
above. I approached some people who specialised in search engine marketing,
they took on board all of what I wanted to achieve through my website and
set to work.
Within 2 months of the online marketing and search engine marketing being
completed, my website had gone up in the rankings from number 30 to number
7. As it was now on page 1 I was receiving more hits than ever, and the
orders were coming in thick and fast.
Because of the overwhelming demand I was finding it difficult to simply walk
across to the post office with my packages, so I had to make an arrangement
for the van to pick them up on this way to the sorting depot. I was getting
more success with my shop on the internet than I ever had in my shop, which
was in a prime town centre position. I think this is due also to the lack of
overheads which I have now. Where as before I was paying for rent on a shop,
plus all the council rates and other overheads such as electricity and gas,
I now only have the household bills which are little more than they were
before.
I would recommend the internet market to anyone who is thinking of selling
from home, and search engine marketing (Suchmaschinenmarketing)
is a tool that could be the difference between your internet company
surviving or failing.
