'Not since I first heard Alan Partridge have I felt so sure that I was in the presence of an immortal'
David Sexton, The Sunday Telegraph
Fresh from rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, comedian Marcus Brigstocke gives full voice to his backpacking student twit first heard in The Now Show.
Armed with only a portable tape recorder and some stout corduroy, Giles Wemmbley Hogg (two m's, two g's) bravely sets forth from his native Budleigh Salterton and offers his unique observation in these four spoof travelogues. His meanderings take him to such exotic locations as the Sudan {'... has an amazing history of armed struggle, deprivation and civil unrest... but I've come for the fishing'), Bolivia (I've discovered that pan pipes are very hard - especially when thrown at you'), the Arctic ('did you know the Inuit have over 100 different words for idiot?'), and Thailand (I'm trying to find myself but have lost my rucksack, so I'm spending most of my time looking for that').
So join Giles on his travels and meet the people he meets, hear the sounds he hears, and let him describe - in his charming and inimitable way - the sights he sees. Grotesque but love-able, he's a travelling companion to make your toes curl in their walking boots.

Now with the internet audiobooks are a lot more accessible and easier to obtain than normal books, going online for them is quick, simple and saves time that would be other wise spend trawling through stores trying to find one you really want. Many sites offer a few free downloadable introductory titles, to get you started and no doubt hooked on the splendour of them. What better way to spend a Saturday evening than to sit back, relax and enjoy a good audiobook, instead of renting a dvd or stagnating in front of the television. Unlike rentals, they can be kept for life and enjoyed again and again. |
